Restorative Yoga I Somatic Healing I Yoga Nidra
This Restorative Yoga class is an opportunity for us to come together and pause, rest and replenish. You will be transported, through the medium of form, breath and mindful awareness, to a place of deep relaxation and inner peace. It's in this quiet place of stillness that the magic of healing happens.
The focus of this month's session will continue to nourish and support the Liver/Gallbladder meridian. In this transitional season of spring yang energy ascends in preparation for the hgh yang season of summer. Spring is a time to nourish our roots and weed out what no longer serves us to make way for a fresh and fertile garden of possibilities. When the Liver meridian is in balance and well nurtured our hearts brim with kindness, forgiveness and creativity.
What is Restorative Yoga? Restorative Yoga is a special type of yoga based on the yoga tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar. Unlike other forms of flowing yoga, Restorative Yoga is a quiet, reflective and mostly passive practice. A Restorative Yoga practice typically involves only 5 - 8 poses supported with props and held for anywhere from 10 - 15 minutes. Gentle backbends, forward bends, twists and inversions are used to invite full relaxation of body and mind. Students are cradled, cushioned and supported by bolsters, blankets and cushions so they can comfortably let go and relax. The longer holds elicit what’s known as the Relaxation Response and allows the nervous system to fully decompress and recover from chronic daily stress and tension. About The Facilitator.
